"This one was recorded at Sun Studio in Memphis, TN (of Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and Carl Perkins fame). It came about while we were shooting a CMT documentary at Sun Studio—we ended up liking the audio so much, we decided to release it as an album. We only had studio access for two evenings, so we just banged out a bunch of our favourites from Five Dollar Bill and Hair In My Eyes. The recording setup was really basic and old school, with no mic isolation and all of us just laying it down in one room. The result is sort of a frenetic and dirty greatest hits album, live off the floor."

On very short notice, Americana and Canadian Roots artist Corb Lund was given the chance to record an album at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, TN. There were two challenges, it would be filmed for a CMT-TV special and he had two days to record. Taking advantage of Sun‰۪s recording live-off-the-floor nature, Corb recorded Counterfeit Blues - an electric, raw and pure homage to the sound of Sun Studios.
Included with the deluxe version of Counterfeit Blues is Memphis Sun, the nearly hour long TV special featuring interviews and 11 performances. This edition features 3 bonus performances that did not make the TV special.
